My Colon Cancer Story – Cancer Center Sarasota Bradenton
My Colon Cancer Story – Cancer Center Sarasota Bradenton – In October of 2009 Jim Johnson began experiencing symptoms of what he thought was a Urinary Tract Infection. When the pain persisted, he visited a walk-in clinic. After a quick series of tests, the doctor told Jim that he was very sick and needed to go to the emergency room. After an emergency colonoscopy, he learned he had a major blockage in his colon and that he had cancer. After meeting with Dr. Mamus at the Cancer Center of Sarasota, Jim and his wife, Marla, knew they had found their doctor. Dr. Mamus ordered testing of the tumor that completely changed Jim’s treatment regimen. As chemotherapy goes, there are several drugs used and different combinations thereof. The testing Dr. Mamus ordered confirmed the “standard” chemotherapy treatment would not have worked for Jim, and would have left him with unnecessary, irreversible, long term side-effects.
