Drug Rehab? My Son Has a Problem?

A couple of weeks ago my son went into the emergency room via ambulance because of an overdose of amphetamines, xanax, marijuana, and hydrocodone. He also admitted to using cocaine, which we found in his room. Anyways, he saw a drug counselor who wanted to send him to drug and alcohol rehab. However, my son convinced us otherwise and we did not send him despite the recommendation from his school administration and the psychologist to send him. Well we are traveling this summer and letting him (legally) take Xanax for the plane travel. Tonight he saw the bottle of xanax again after a month and I saw him staring at it with his eyes lit up. I know he is sober besides his alcohol consumption.. probably overconsumption. But I am concerned. He is 18 and about to go to college. What should I do?

Of course he’s going to deny needing help.You should get help now before he leaves for school.

I think you already know what you need to do…Send him to treatment. It sounds like he needs it.
